Jan 2017 - George Morton has been re-appointed to the position of MD for a further year.

Jan 2016 - George Morton has been appointed to the position of MD to start Feb 2016. We are looking forward to working with him over the coming months.

He is currently conducting Sheffield rep orchestra and was a very popular choice with band members after a round of auditions.

Nov 2015- Unfortunately Clive has had to take a sabbatical for at least the next school year and probably for longer.

Jon Bellfield has been standing in for the past month and we thank him greatly for that but we are now looking for a new permanent conductor.

Sep 2006 - Sep 2015  Clive Scott

Clive Scott is the Head of Music at one of Sheffield ’s successful state schools, Stockbridge High. He leads a wide range of musical ensembles for all students to attend including the well known Samba Band, which led the Lord Mayors Parade in 2008.

For many years Clive has conducted the City of Sheffield Youth Festival Band , part of the Sheffield Music Services. During which time he has taken them to the finals of Music for Youth and to achieve numerous Gold Awards at the National Concert Band Festival.

Every two years he takes the youth band on a European tour, where they take part in various concerts in places such as Switzerland , Germany , Austria and Paris . He is a firm favorite with the young performers not just for his musical abilities of making rehearsals stimulating and different, but because he is always willing to join in.

Clive is also a keen brass player and is a member of the Stockport Symphony Orchestra.

We are extremely lucky to have Clive as the Musical Director of Silver Spectrum Wind Band. Within a short space of time he has built the band up from a simple adult band playing for pleasure to a strong wind ensemble capable of holding its own. His commitment to music and his easy going manner makes all the difference to the continuing success of the band.

Clive was recently nominated for the Teacher of the year award in 2008. He received a much deserved distinction for his dedication to ensure music is accessible to all.
